28mm TAG Borgia Shot

Just a small addition to the Italian Wars Project this week, a unit I've had hanging around for a while, every time I do a Pike Block I like to do matching shot unit, a bit like a colour matched pair of shoes and a handbag.

So these shot are to go with a unit of pre prepared pike, my usual style, Borgia flags and then the clothing painted using colour cues from the flags, 16 figures of Shot, on 4 bases, 60 x 50, 4 to a base.

I like the look of 4 figures per base for shot especially when compared to the 8 figures on a base for the pike, I see some pike blocks where the figures are so far apart you could drive a car between them, socially distanced pike blocks are one of my pet hates in gaming and don't get me started on wet palettes 😁

The figures are from TAG (The Assault Group) and they are very different to the Perry Miniatures I normally use. I wasn't sure if the figures would work with my painting style at first but when the finished figures came of the paint table and they got put on their bases they really came to life. I'm a big fan of them now, the faces are full of character and will add have more in the pipeline.

Yesterday we went back into lockdown so these won't see the gaming table for a long time, a real shame.

I've got some 15mm WW2 German Infantry on the paint table at the moment but the next article will be on some "lost" projects that have been relocated during the #greatwargamesfigurecount

  2. That's a lovely looking unit and nice to read your thoughts on why you've based them thus.

    1. Many thanks Steve, I'm a bit of a rebel when it comes to basing. I base how I want a unit to look and then change the rules to fit my basing 👍🏼

  5. Looks great! Always wanted to see TAG Italians miniatures in color, as in the shop they represented in grey.
