New Unit Day- 28mm Gripping Beast Arab Heavy Cavalry from their plastic box set.
Getting going in April is always a challenge after AHPC & Salute so pleased to squeeze one out 🤣 a new unit that is.
Its always a strange month, the Analogue Hobbies Winter Paint Challenge finishes on the 21st March, so I've just had 3 months of intensive painting which always leads to a slump as the drive to get things done for a target subsides.
Added to that there was quite a big lead in for Salute this year, I had a pile of new figures which needed travelling storage boxes making up for the trip to that there London. I also needed to go through the boxes and make repairs from last time they were out.
The terrain boards also needed a bit of TLC, after a season of shows they needed some touch up work which took an entire week.
After Salute is done there's also a bit of a slump, it's over for another year and I am bloody knackered 😴 It's over a week since I got back and there is still at least half of the game in the living room. We live in a 3 storey house so getting heavy boards and boxes to the top floor is not easy, especially for a retired gentleman 😎
I've spoken to Richard at Partizan now and it looks like there was a cock up on the booking front, it was sent but I didn't receive it, hopefully I will be back in the October show. Its looking like I will be at Claymore, hopefully my own club can fit me in at FIASCO this year, there are also potentially another couple of shows in the pipeline as well.
NOTE - the pendants amongst you will notice that there is a rider missing, I've looked everywhere and can't find the little t'^t - the problem with modern day figures is you can't just buy one, so I'd have to buy another box, which would give me 11 spare figures, so I'd do another unit and the circle begins again. Has anyone got a spare fig they don't want ?
Not sure what I'll be bringing round the shows next year, the Narvik Project is stalled at the terrain stage, Plancenoit is a long way off, not even a third way through the figs yet. Bubbling under I have a Crusades idea and a ECW idea again a lot of work needed doing on both. ECW probably closer as that's mostly a refurb, spruce up job.
I'll come up with something.

Superb looking Arab cavalry
ReplyDeleteNice work Ken, shame about the missing figure. I've got a few Gripping Beast figures from their El Cid range in metals if that would help?
ReplyDeleteHold that thought mate, I may have sourced one, if it fails I'll come back to you 😁
DeleteGreat looking arab cavalry, so what unit are you going to paint if you get promotion through the play offs?
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
It would have to be a Command Base, our manager I'd called Alexander so it shouldn't be too difficult 😁
DeleteBeautiful painting and basing. I don't want to be pedantic but it is 'pedants' not 'pendants' (sorry, couldn't resist)
ReplyDeleteThe oldest joke on Yarkshire Gamer keeps me entertained forever 😆
